Description
Unique collector's property in Davos - Historic Walser house with stable at the foot of the Flüela Pass
Welcome to Davos, in the idyllic village of Dörfji at 1,804 m above sea level, where this extraordinary collector's property presents itself in the midst of an impressive alpine landscape. A property that combines history, originality and cosiness in a unique way - created for people who appreciate the special.
This historic Walser house looks back on a centuries-old past. As early as 1300, the Davos Walser acquired the Flüela Valley from the Bishop of Chur. The building itself was built around 1700 and still bears witness to traditional architecture and living history.
The upper kitchen with the vaulted cellar below suggests that it was originally a residential tower, which was later expanded into a multi-generational house.
Upon entering, lovingly preserved details are revealed: Gothic elements in the entrance area, two heated parlours from the 18th century and the impressive large parlour with carved Bible board, ornate Swiss stone pine coffered ceiling and the meaningful saying:
I put my roof home to God.
The cellars with traditional milk racks for storing brooms and cheese wheels bear witness to year-round use and the former self-sufficiency. Around 1800, around 60 people lived in the Flüela Valley - the house was therefore an important centre of village life.
Historical evidence also indicates that the building was temporarily used as a Suste (goods transshipment point for grain and salt). The pass road at that time led directly past the house, and even today embrasures are visible in the wall - silent witnesses of an eventful past.
In recent years, the Walserhaus has been gently renovated with great respect for its history and great attention to detail.
The charming 6-room chalet inspires with original building elements such as floors, doors and stairs and conveys a warm, authentic living atmosphere.
