Description

At an altitude of almost 1,185 metres, on a sunny hill, stands this simple holiday home from 1947. Nestled between forest and wide meadows, with a view over gentle hills far out into the valley. The house offers two rooms on 46 m2 of living space and, despite its modest comfort, is in good condition: the downhill half of the roof has been renovated and insulated; the uphill side has not been revised, but has not given rise to any complaint to date. The windows are modern, and the two wood-burning stoves provide cosy warmth on cooler days. Generous corner glazing in the dining area almost turns the room into a viewing pavilion – nature becomes part of the living. The interior is completely clad in wood and breathes the honest character of a real chalet: exposed beams, warm wood, simple furniture. A covered veranda invites you to linger in summer. This house is not a classic holiday home. There is no electricity grid, no shower and no connection to the sewerage. Cooking is done on a small gas rechaud, supplemented by a hybrid refrigerator that can be operated either with gas or electricity. A mobile gas stove is available ready for use, as well as a functioning generator that can be connected to the socket in the large room via cable. The water comes from a rainwater cistern. For future use, we recommend that you provide a new tank to ensure proper water hygiene. For a later solar installation, some basic elements are already in place: plugs, switches, indirect lighting behind panels in both rooms as well as roof-side pipe supports to accommodate any panels. With a solar system and a small storage system (5-10 kWh), comfort could be noticeably increased. Note on access: The access road leads from a farm about 270 meters over a bumpy dirt road, with deep ruts in places. Then about 230 meters over a drivable meadow. A vehicle with high ground clearance and all-wheel drive is recommended. In wet conditions and in winter, access is difficult or hardly possible – in such cases, the current owners were allowed to park their cars at a house in the area. The house has been owned by the same owner for 40 years, who is now selling for reasons of age. A rare opportunity to take over a place that has been carefully preserved for decades. The region: Le Locle and the surrounding High Jura landscape are among the most beautiful areas in Switzerland. The Doubs, which forms the border between Switzerland and France here, has formed a spectacular gorge landscape. The famous Saut du Doubs – a 27-metre-high waterfall – and the Lac des Brenets and Lac de Moron reservoirs with their quiet shores are also nearby. Hiking trails, mountain bike routes and, in winter, cross-country ski trails lead directly through this unspoilt natural landscape. Le Locle itself, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of watchmaking cities, can be reached in a few minutes by car. This chalet is for people looking for the real thing – silence, sun, stars and a retreat where time has a different measure.
