The economic center of Unterland
Medieval, urban and close to Zürich International Airport
Bülach is part of the German-speaking administrative district of Zürich. This town of 21,650 inhabitants is 20 km away from the metropolis and 10 km away from Zürich Kloten International Airport at the foot of the small Dattenberg mountain range. It is the economic center of the Zürich Unterland region. Public transport is plentiful and easily connects Bülach to neighboring towns. This small town has lost jobs in recent years with the closures of the Vetropack glassworks and the Sulzer smelting plant. Today it is a branch of the Schneider medical technology group. Bülach’s big employer is his hospital, one of the largest in the canton. Between a pretty old medieval center and a beautiful surrounding nature (39% of the municipal area is made up of forests) the city attracts new inhabitants who find accommodation quite easily in the new districts under construction and who work in Zürich or on the airport area. Zürich Unterland is also a tourist region. The hiking trails, cycle paths, theaters and exhibitions offer a range of varied leisure activities. Real estate: living in Bülach
Between city and country atmosphere, Bülach offers an excellent quality of life with many shops in its charming old town, shopping centers, schools, sports and leisure facilities amidst beautiful nature. Bülach is one of the largest forest communities in the canton of Zürich and has a recreation area of over 600 hectares. Sunday outings with children take place around the city pond. The proximity to Zürich, the largest city in Switzerland and the economic and financial capital of the Confederation is obviously an asset both from a professional point of view and for nightlife. Note that some Swiss army training schools are in Bülach. The real estate sector is particularly dynamic there. In the Glasi district, on the site of the old glass factory closed in 2002, a residential, industrial and commercial area has developed where the buildings bear the first names of the former glass workers. Real estate prices are much lower than in Zürich, which contributes to the city's appeal for new residents.
