The municipality of Beckenried is idyllically located on the shores of the beautiful Lake Lucerne and the Klewenalp in the south. The approximately 3,700 inhabitants appreciate the attractive holiday and residential resort. Traffic

With public transport, you are spoilt for choice. If you are in a hurry, take the train or bus and get to Lucerne in about 45 minutes from the Beckenried Boden bus stop, which is 100 m away, via Stans train station. If you have a little more time, use the passenger ships of the Lake Lucerne Shipping Company.

The A2 motorway, one of the most important north-south traffic axes in Europe, runs through the canton of Nidwalden. You can reach the city of Lucerne in 20 minutes and ZHR Airport in about 65 minutes.

Tourism and Leisure

Beckenried with its traditional hotels and holiday apartments and its direct location on the lake is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts: Whether swimming, SUP, sailing, boating and wakeboarding - the possibilities are very extensive. Beckenried also offers the ideal conditions for tennis and mini golf, hiking and mountain biking or just relaxing.

Within walking distance is a public bathing lawn with lake access. You can also enjoy enjoyable and carefree moments by the lake at the Beckenried lido or in a restaurant on the lakeside promenade.

Schools/Education

At the Beckenried school, all eleven years of elementary school can be attended. There is a two-year kindergarten, six primary school classes and three classes of the orientation school. After primary school, there is the possibility of attending the St. Fidelis college (grammar school) in the neighbouring municipality of Stans. The Beckenried school also has its own music school and library.

Purchasing

The Christians Beck and Volg, which are only about 400 meters away, actually offer almost everything for daily needs. Other shopping facilities such as a Denner and the Chäs Käslin as well as various service providers round off the offer in the municipality of Beckenried.

The nearest Migros and Coop are in the neighbouring municipality of Buochs. And if a longer shopping trip is on the agenda, the Stans country park with around 53 shops can be reached in just seven minutes by car.

Taxes

The tax rates in the canton of Nidwalden range from 4.15 units (Hergiswil) to 5.16 units (Wolfenschiessen). With 4.45 tax units, Beckenried ranks fourth among the most tax-efficient municipalities in Nidwalden.
