The villa was designed by the Basel architectural firm Suter & Burckhardt in 1901 and completed in 1903. It is assumed that this impressive building was one of the first projects of the two friends from their youth, Rudolf Suter (1871-1932) and Otto Burckhardt (1872-1952), as they founded their joint architectural firm during the year the project was commissioned. It was much later that this former connection resulted in the companies Suter & Suter (1945) and Burckhardt Architekten (1951).

The spacious building is impressive because of its unique front façade. A closer look reveals that this uniqueness and the playfulness of the façade design are probably mainly due to the somewhat randomly arranged windows and their different sizes. The ornamental metalwork also supports this impression. When looking at the front façade, one does not immediately notice how voluminous the building actually is.

Upon entering the house, one is greeted by a majestic entrance hall. It is an impressive large, high room that brings the charm of Art Nouveau to the fore in all its glory. An elaborate ceramic wall tile, also created as a one-of-a-kind, is a magnificent reproduction of the painting “Water Snakes II” by Gustav Klimt. It is an impressive element of this central area of the house. The floor is covered with polished marble.

The house has 13 living rooms and rooms, some of which are very spacious, several ancillary rooms and additional usable areas. The salon occupies an area of over 42 m2. Even a grand piano is discreetly visible in it. The ceiling height is up to 3.20 meters. Artistic decorations with floral motifs and curved lines lend this room, especially the seating area, a charming atmosphere. It is the ideal place for private music evenings, social events or simply to relax in a very pleasant environment. The residential basement floor includes the current billiard room, the cozy wine and fondue lounge, a natural wine cellar and the housekeeping area. An underground corridor connects the townhouse with the adjacent parking garage, which contains the two parking spaces belonging to the house (St. Alban-Ring exit).

The idyllic garden has the character of a small park. It is a truly magical place in the heart of the Gellert district. In 1995, the charming Art Nouveau pavilion was built according to the original plans from 1901.
